ABBA ORCHESTRATED

CALLING ALL DANCING QUEENS AND SUPER TROUPERS

ABBA ORCHESTRATED HAS ARRIVED

WESTPORT PARK GETS SET TO COME ALIVE WHEN BABBA HITS THE STAGE WITH A 30 PIECE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CONDUCTED BY GEORGE ELLIS

Saturday November 3rd will be an unforgettable evening filled with timeless hits as The Music of ABBA comes alive, performed by BABBA and The George Ellis Orchestra.

Fans of the legendary Swedish band ABBA will rejoice as BABBA and the George Ellis Orchestra meet the challenge in creating a symphonic concert like you’ve never seen before, paying homage to ABBA’s timeless music.

Following hundreds of millions of albums sold, and forty years after being formed, the music of ABBA can still be heard – and seen – everywhere.

George Ellis is one of Australia’s most admired conductors, composers and orchestrators working with Hans Zimmer, Lou Reed, The Church, Megan Washington and in many cities around the world with career highlights such as the Sydney Olympic opening ceremonies, arts and cultural festivals, opening nights, ARIA Awards, and sporting finals such as the NRL and Davis Cup. He will lead the 30-piece symphony orchestra with BABBA as they pay loving tribute to ABBA, together they will be re-imagining all your favourite ABBA songs as you’ve never experienced them before including Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, Dancing Queen, Money Money Money, S.O.S., Take a Chance on Me, Chiquitita, Mamma Mia, Voulez-Vous, The Winner Takes it All, Knowing Me Knowing You , Fernando, Does Your Mother Know, Thank You for the Music, One of Us and More!

The approach to combining pop musicians and symphonies has been a game changer for orchestras in their quest to attract new and more expansive audiences.

Promoter Scott Mesiti from MJR Presents says “The beautiful thing about music is its capacity to bring people together for something that transcends the individual experience. I worked with George Ellis and his Orchestra on the Hans Zimmer tour and can’t wait to see Port Macquarie experience a world class orchestral event, in a relaxed, open-air setting”.

The seminal anthems of generations combined with the power of the 30-piece Symphony Orchestra attended by Australia’s most celebrated conductor George Ellis, The Music of ABBA is sure to provide an escapist treat in melancholy times. The authentic costumes, vocal collaboration and stage performance exude an extraordinary re-creation of the magic and excitement of the legendary band.

As from their winning performance at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with Waterloo, ABBA is known and loved all over the world and is without any doubt the most popular music pop group of all times, selling in excess of 37 billion records throughout their career.

BABBA is the most exciting and musically accurate tribute to ABBA in the world. In a spellbinding performance of all the hits, BABBA takes you on a musical journey that will have you on your feet uncontrollably. With spine tingling harmonies and a band that will rock your socks off, BABBA is simply the best night out in town.

The concert is a fully licensed event, with a choice of gourmet food available on site. Tickets are priced at $39.00 plus booking fee.

Don’t miss this powerful combination pay homage to ABBA like you’ve never seen before.

James

MJR in Association with Solo and Vector Presents

After selling out their first ever trip to Australia in 2016, James are preparing for a triumphant return in 2018 with their ‘Living in Extraordinary Times Tour’. This time the band are sporting a brand-new album ‘Living in Extraordinary Times” as well as all their swag of British classics.

James’ 1993 hit ‘Laid’ became the soundtrack to early 90s alternative radio before finding a second life through its use in teen hit American Pie films. James had already had a decade of hits by the time Laid arrived, having risen from Manchester’s legendary Factory Records scene into one of the biggest UK bands in the world by the dawn of the 90s. With alternative hits in Australia including Laid, Sit Down, Sound, Getting Away With It (All Messed Up), She’s a Star and Just Like Fred Astaire, and selling over 25 million records worldwide, the band were triple j staples for over fifteen years, yet took nearly three decades to hit Australian shores.

2016 saw the release of Girl at the End of the World, their most commercially and critically successful album for nearly twenty years, which came close to knocking Adele’s 25 off the prized number 1 spot of the UK album chart.

With sell out shows, great reviews and mad fans, some travelling across Australia to ensure they didn’t miss a single show, a return visit was inevitable.

‘Looking forward to playing to the boys and the girls at the end of the world again (from our corner of the world). if you enjoyed our last trip, evangelize this one to your friends, and we can make this a regular liaison,’ said Tim Booth.

“The vibe in every room was just electric and every night was different to the last. We can’t wait to get back there and do it all again, this time with our ‘Living in Extraordinary Times’ record.” said Jim Glennie.

The album seems to touch upon contemporary fissures in society, with Tim Booth commenting: “We knew something was up when Leicester city won the league then Brexit, then Trump. It is as if we’d slipped into an alternate reality, a Philip K Dick reality. We are living in extraordinary times.”

The tour will visit Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth as well as taking James to Adelaide for the very first time.

“Sometimes rounds off James’s first ever Australian gig and there wouldn’t be many in the audience who didn’t feel privileged to be there.” – The Sydney Morning Herald

“As the band left the stage for the final time, they promised not to wait 35 years next time. Let’s hope they hold true to their word.” – Scenestr

“Australia has really been missing out. It’s taken 34 years for Manchester alt-rockers James to visit Australia, but they made it worth the wait.” – The West Australian
