Hans Zimmer 2017

Grammy, Golden Globe and Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer has announced arena shows today for his concert experience ‘Hans Zimmer Revealed.’ Hot on the heels of his recently announced European tour dates, Zimmer will perform three shows on the west coast of the United States, as well as five shows across New Zealand and Australia in May. The Australasian leg of the tour includes Auckland’s Vector Arena, Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena, Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre and Perth Arena.

Hans Zimmer Revealed’ is a multi-layered experience for concertgoers and a must-see concert event, featuring career-spanning music from Zimmer‘s multi-decade career. The tour kicked off earlier this year with a sold-out two night run at London’s Wembley Arena before embarking on a 33-city run that featured shows in major European cities including London, Paris, Munich, Prague, Geneva, Dublin and Vienna. The tour received rave reviews in every city.

The concert will be in two parts: the first being some of Zimmer’s classic movie scores including GLADIATOR, THE LION KING and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, and the second featuring re-imagined versions of some classic scores such as THE DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY and INCEPTION with special guests from the rock and pop world.

“Performing a concert series like this is something that I have always wanted to do, and I am thrilled to visit Australia and New Zealand and return to Europe where we had so much fun playing in the summer.” said Zimmer. “I am very excited to get some of my very talented friends together and give our audiences an experience unlike any concert they have ever been to before.”

* SECOND MELBOURNE SHOW ANNOUNCED – TUESDAY 23rd MAY *

It seems Australia and New Zealand can’t get enough of Hevy Devy. Melbourne’s 170 Russell Show on 24th May has completely SOLD OUT and a second show at the same venue has now been announced for Tuesday the 23rd May.

Tickets for the additional show are now on sale

Devin Townsend Project is returning to Australia and New Zealand in 2017 and today, Aussie prog/post-rock/instrumental sensations sleepmakeswaves are announcing that they will accompany HevyDevy on the entire May 2017 Australian/New Zealand tour.

Since recording and releasing their most epic record to date, ‘Love of Cartography’, they’ve been back to the UK and Europe twice, China, South East Asia, New Zealand, North America, and looped around Australia a bunch of times and shared stages with some incredible bands – Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, The Contortionist, Opeth, Monuments, Skyharbor and of course a very special tour with the reunited COG.

Album ‘Love Of Cartography’ signaled their continued desire to map new creative directions. Recorded with Nick DiDia at Studios 301, the album’s singles ‘Something Like Avalanches’ & ‘Great Northern’ received airplay on triple j and across Australian & international community & college radio. ‘Love of Cartography’ was also nominated for an ARIA Award, J Award, AIR Award and 3 AU Review Awards. Their Sydney iconic Metro Theatre show was a memorable homecoming for the band and was recorded for posterity by triple j for Live at the Wireless.

Devin Townsend Project is obviously the brainchild of frontman Devin Townsend – who released new album TRANSCENDENCE in September 2016. To celebrate the success of the album, they are returning to Australia and New Zealand in May 2017, presented by MJR Presents. The album was the first ARIA charting album for Devin Townsend Project, coming in at #10 in its first week in the charts – all the more reason to celebrate!

Previously here in 2015 on a string of sold-out shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne – this time Perth and Auckland (NZ) are getting some HevyDevy love. The guitar virtuoso is one of the most celebrated singer/songwriter/guitarists in heavy music and Devin Townsend Projects’ live show never fails to satisfy and amaze.

Over the course of Devin Townsend’s storied career, a single constant has persevered: change. As far back as Steve Vai’s Sex & Religion, which Townsend fronted, to 2001’s landmark full-length Terria to the multi-instrumentalist’s country rock outfit Casualties of Cool to his stunning new album Transcendence, the Canadian isn’t too interested in keeping an even musical keel. To stay the proverbial course is, well, anathema. For certain, he’s far too impatient to write the same Strapping Young Lad song over and over—which is why he folded the band in 2007—and it’s likely there will never be a fourth or fifth Ziltoid album (a third if we’re lucky) because by that point he’ll be in a totally different frame of mind for galactic puppets gone awry.

The man himself is not shy about talking about his process and his varied, long and always-interesting career. This album was a different experience to most in the past and he is excited to bring the show to Australia. He muses about the album process this time around, “The Devin Townsend Project is still essentially a solo project,” he reminds. “One of several, but the difference is that I’ve had a dedicated team of talented folks here that really had great ideas. One of the ways I consciously stepped out of my comfort zone was to the solicit feedback from not only the band, but also to production and engineering. Opinions from people I trust at the management and label, and all with a sense of building a kind of archetype of the DTP sound that would not ostracize people who enjoy the style, but keeping it fresh for me as well. One of the things I did was present my vision—which I’ve always done—and within that framework, I’d massage it with the team. For this record, in those sections, I’d bring it to the band and say, ‘Look guys, here’s what it’s supposed to do. This is how it’s supposed to make me feel. And how the audience is supposed to feel. This is how it interacts with the parts prior and after. That’s why it exists. It’s not complicated because we’re trying to jerk off here. It’s complicated because, in my mind, the emotional component of the section is complicated.”

Recorded at The Armoury Studios in Vancouver, Canada with Townsend and Adam ‘Nolly’ Getgood (Periphery, Animals as Leaders), Transcendence sounds absolutely massive. From the moment ‘Truth’—a re-work from the Infinity album—monstrously blends into the soul-stirring ‘Stormbending’ to the undulating cool of mid-point jam ‘Secret Sciences’ and Ween cover ‘Transdermal Celebration’, Townsend and crew have engineered a modern-day classic. The sheer scale of tracks like ‘Failure’, ‘Higher’, and the majestic title track is at once daunting and inviting. Transcendence pulls the listener in like a movie score. It has the emotional heft of Rosenman’s Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and the mega-riff power of Black-era Metallica.

Townsend’s loyal fans haven’t been waiting very long for Devin to return, only since 2015, but they will get the show of a lifetime with DTP playing the new tracks and tracks from their extensive back catalogue, despite the project only dating back to 2009.

Alter Bridge

MJR Presents ALTER BRIDGE –

AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND TOUR

APRIL 2017

** Due to logistical issues, the Alter Bridge show (originally scheduled for April 1) will now be moved to Friday March 31. Ticket holders that can’t make the event simply need to contact their ticketing provider or info@mjrpresents.com for a refund.

US-based, Kiwi-born hard rockers LIKE A STORM have been announced as the opening act for the legendary ALTER BRIDGE.

LIKE A STORM have fought hard to be heard. The three brothers from New Zealand went to the United States in 2009 knowing no one. After tirelessly touring to promote their debut album, THE END OF THE BEGINNING, they built a diehard and devoted fanbase and soon were opening for the likes of Creed, Alter Bridge and Shinedown in the States.

Orlando, Florida-based rock legends Alter Bridge are today announcing that they will return to Australian shores in April 2017, presented by MJR Presents. Early October 2016 saw Alter Bridge release their latest studio album ‘The Last Hero’ in Australia – to an ARIA #6 album chart debut. With an obviously loyal and ravenous fanbase down under, Alter Bridge are coming down under to celebrate the success.

Alter Bridge’s album Fortress was released in 2013 and it was clear their fans were eagerly waiting for them to return. Now the rock juggernaut comprised of Myles Kennedy on vocals/guitars, Mark Tremonti on guitars/vocals, Brian Marshall on bass and Scott Phillips on drums are returning to Australia on the back of their fifth album, The Last Hero.  The new release is a monster that builds upon the sound that Alter Bridge has become known for with their uncompromised vocal melodies, untouchable dueling guitar work and pounding rhythm section.

Founded in 2004, the quartet immediately went gold in the US with their debut album One Day Remains – and that was just the beginning. Each and every subsequent critically acclaimed release would hit the top album charts in Alter Bridge`s home country, find partnerships with the likes of WWE, MLB and ESPN, and concerts around the globe created a legion of supporters known as the AB Nation! Europe also pledged their allegiance. Alter Bridge`s 2013 effort Fortress gave the band their highest chart entries in Germany, the UK, Austria and Switzerland.

The Last Hero creates musical imagery to showcase a common theme that runs throughout the record: paying tribute to, and touching on the need for heroes and leaders in a complex world. “Show me a leader that won`t compromise – show me a leader so hope never dies.“

Produced by Michael “Elvis” Baskette (Slash, Trivium, Tremonti etc) and mastered by Grammy award winner Ted Jensen, The Last Hero is the diversified and resolute rock album we have all been waiting for: welcome back, Alter Bridge!

Ultimately, Alter Bridge heroically deliver for fans worldwide and rock music at large. “It’s good to be back in the Alter Bridge battle,” Myles leaves off. “Every time we tour, I’m reminded of how great it is to have this passionate and loyal audience. We don’t take it lightly. We consider it an honor that people let us into their lives that way – and we can’t wait to see our loyal fans down under in April.”

ANNOUNCE AUSTRALIAN EAST COAST TOUR IN JANUARY 2017

– WITH SPECIAL GUESTS –

DSKIN ALBUM 2 LOGO

Halestorm, the Grammy-Award winning rock outfit from Red Lion, Pennsylvania in the USA are today announcing their Australian East Coast tour dates for January 2017 – and they are bringing their good friends Devilskin from New Zealand along for the party. MJR Presents are bringing out the four-piece fronted by Lzzy Hale for their second run of shows in Australia on the back of their 2014 release “Into the Wild Life”.

The band were last here in 2015 and wowed audiences everywhere with their epic live show.

Bringing along NZ Platinum Record selling heavy heroes Devilskin with their explosive live set was a no-brainer

Frontwoman Lzzy Hale is still pumped about their album and has been touring it almost non-stop around the globe since its release. “On the last record, we hit all these crazy milestones,” Hale says. “All of a sudden the world was aware of us so we celebrated unabashedly.”

Indeed, “Freak Like Me” and “Love Bites (So Do I)” both reached #1 on Active Rock charts in the US, making Halestorm the first ever female-fronted band to top the format’s airplay ranking.

In addition, the band won a Grammy for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance for “Love Bites (So Do I).” The accomplishments didn’t stop there. Hale collaborated with “America’s Got Talent” star Lindsey Stirling on the EDM song “Shatter Me” and performed with country maverick Eric Church at the CMT Awards, demonstrating her versatile vocals mix with any genre. On top of that, Hale was honored by Gibson Guitars, which celebrated her accomplishments by creating a Lzzy Hale signature Explorer guitar.

“All of the attention was amazing and fueled our confidence,” Hale says. “So we decided to throw everything we were used to out the window and just go for it.”

It’s that “Just go for it” attitude that brings Halestorm back to Australia – “We came down under for the first time in 2015 and we had the best time ever. This time is shorter, but bigger rooms and we can’t wait to party again with all our friends in Australia. It’s gonna be so good.”

The band have toured with incredible artists such as Alter Bridge, Chevelle, Seether, Staind, Papa Roach, Trapt, Three Days Grace, Theory of a Deadman, Buckcherry, Disturbed, Shinedown, Avenged Sevenfold, Stone Sour, Hellyeah, Heaven & Hell, Evanescence, The Pretty Reckless, Starset, Sevendust and Bullet For My Valentine. There’s just no stopping the Halestorm.

MJR Presents
AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND TOUR MARCH 2017

* 2nd MELBOURNE SHOW ANNOUNCED

TUESDAY 14TH MARCH *

Meshuggah Logo_invert WITH SPECIAL GUESTS
TAIM_logo_pentagram

*ALL DATES EXCEPT PERTH*

MESHUGGAH will grace Australian and New Zealand’s shores in April 2017, on the back of their 8th studio Album,  “The Violent Sleep of Reason”. The tour, presented by MJR Presents will see Australia’s extreme metal leaders, THY ART IS MURDER, join the tour for all dates except Perth. With the Wednesday show at 170 Russell show in Melbourne, the promoters have announced a second show on Tuesday 14th March, now on sale.

Since their formation in 2006, New South Wales’ Thy Art Is Murder have made killing their business… and as Dave Mustaine would say, business is good. Their nightmarish void is one where resistance is futile – you can but sit helplessly as the relentless blast beats and gut-ripping guitars pummel you sideways. In the best possible way, of course. 2015’s album Holy War cemented their spot at the top of the Extreme Metal pile in Australia and recognized worldwide, having toured the world extensively and comprehensively since its release.

In 2017, Swedish progressive metal pioneers MESHUGGAH will be entering their 30th year of existence, defying expectations on record as to the limitations of metal, and then proving their virtuosic prowess by taking their cathedral-complex compositions to stages all over the world – this leg of the tour being only part of a lengthy world tour – for which they are well known.

The Violent Sleep of Reason, the band’s eighth full-length studio album, finds MESHUGGAH building upon their legacy for fearless metal sculpting within the context of extreme metal, but also recapturing some of the magic and excitement specifically within the aspect of performance, finding flow and groove that would be a challenge for any lesser band to locate, given such technical geometric madness at mischievous hand.

They are bringing that legacy to Australia and New Zealand and visiting iconic venues with Thy Art is Murder in support – The Powerstation in Auckland, The Tivoli in Brisbane, The Enmore Theatre in Sydney, 170 Russell in Melbourne.

Meshuggah’s drummer Tomas Haake says that they are keen to make sure that when they come down under, their erudite and intelligent fan base “get something that they don’t really hear in any other bands. On the first album you still hear a lot of METALLICA and ANTHRAX and Bay Area kind of thrash metal influence. We knew that we sounded a bit like that, but we were aiming for something we hadn’t heard in any other band. And that’s still the main fuel. We’re not trying to write your average metal song. We’re not trying to write catchy songs. But it would seem like the followers that we do have, the people that have kept buying our albums and stayed with us for a lot of years, are not typical metal fans. The crowd we have is diverse. We have a lot of geeks and nerds and weirdos, and they are beautiful ones, you know? We have a lot of people with talent, and a lot of people that are interested in music as art, and not just an event.”

The MESHUGGAH – AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND TOUR 2017 is on sale now at mjrpresents.com and tickets to the additional Melbourne show are now available. For more information, go to mjrpresents.com or meshuggah.net. For media enquiries, contact tim@collisioncourse.com.au.

Thunder

UK rock legends THUNDER are heading to Australia for their first ever tour this March… and it only took 27 years!

Since forming in 1989, the Londoners have established themselves among the UK’s most consistent attractions, notching up some twenty Top Fifty singles in their homeland and cultivating a well-deserved reputation as consummate live performers with the likes of Axl Rose (Guns n Roses), Aerosmith and David Coverdale (Whitesnake) amongst their fans.

With a lineage dating back to the cream of British hard rock – Led Zeppelin, Bad Company, The Who and Deep Purple – and songwriting greats such as the Kinks, The Beatles and The Faces, the band’s sound is a timeless marriage of unforgettable melodies and sheer rock power. With their first two albums ‘Back Street Symphony’ (1990) and ‘Laughing on Judgement Day’ (1992) reaching gold in the UK, Thunder cemented a rock reputation that has lasted decades.

Last year’s ‘Wonder Days’ album (their first for 6 years) entered the UK national album chart at number 9, and their recent ‘All You Can Eat’ 2 CD + DVD went straight into the music DVD chart at number 1.

Thunder are now more popular than ever before and are heading downunder for four unforgettable nights rocking across Australia.

JAMES GETS ‘LAID’ IN AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME

“This bed is on fire with passionate love,
The neighbours complain about the noises above, But she only comes when she’s on top….”

These memorable lines from James’ 1993 hit ‘Laid’ defined a decade becoming the soundtrack to early 90s alternative radio and then finding a second life through its use in teen hit American Pie. Now the band are heading to Australia for the very first time in their career to celebrate the release of their fourteenth album ‘Girl at the End of the World’, presented by MJR.

James have just added two shows in New Zealand off the back of their Australian November tour, which is already practically Sold Out. Presented by MJR Presents, James will play the Powerstation in Auckland on Wednesday, November 9 and the Opera House in Wellington on Thursday, November 10.

Tickets on sale Thursday, August 4, 10.00am at http://eventtree.co.uk/james-aus/

JAMES had already had a decade of hits by the time Laid arrived, having risen from Manchester’s legendary Factory Records scene into one of the biggest UK bands in the world by the dawn of the 90s. With alternative hits in Australia including Laid, Sit Down, Sound, Getting Away With It (All Messed Up), She’s a Star and Just Like Fred Astaire, the band were triple j staples for over fifteen years, yet never ventured downunder…. Until now.

James are visiting Australia this November for four special shows. After internal struggles kicked off a long hiatus in 2001, the band reconciled in 2007 and continued their prosperous career, getting back on the live trail. Their new album ‘Girl at the End of the World’ has become their most popular in over a decade, debuting at #2 in the UK charts (only behind Adele!). The accompanying live shows just finished across the UK have been the bands broadest ever tour, receiving rave reviews – “It’s not hard to grasp the enduring appeal of James… With a hit album, a sellout tour and no sign of the tunes running out, James are, without a doubt, the indie rock dream made flesh” The Observer.

‘Girl at The End of the World’ sees the band team with producer Max Dingel (The Killers, Muse, White Lies) with the legendary Brian Eno infusing his unique influence into the blend. The new album is both anthemic and euphoric, with its simmering electronica continuing James’ long connection to the dance floor. The band’s trademark songwriting and Tim Booth’s distinctive vocal & evocative lyrics prove once again to be amongst Britain’s finest.

“Bands talk about that difficult second album but it’s the trickster 14th one that’s the real M*&^%R F&%$#R,” says Tim Booth of the making of the new record. “As always with James it’s a collaborative process allowing ample room for improvisation, intuition, skill and dumb luck. From the outside our process looks like chaos but chaos is our friend and we have a history that gives us confidence that something magical

will eventually appear. We’ve been trying to come down under for many years – something never quite fell right . Really looking forward to meeting new friends and making up for lost time.”

The tour will kick off at Brisbane’s Tivoli, followed by The Metro in Sydney, Melbourne’s 170 Russell and will wind up in Fremantle at The Metropolis.

TICKETS ON SALE WEDNESDAY 15TH JUNE

South African roots singer/songwriter and activist Jeremy Loops is heading to Australia for the first time this November, celebrating the release of his debut album ‘Trading Change’. The album has been a #1 smash in his homeland and is quickly catching fire across the world, charting in the UK, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland.

Loops’ acclaimed live performances have catapulted him to the fore with a support tour of Europe with Twenty-One Pilots becoming the door-opener for his own ‘Continental Drift’ tour earlier this year, selling out venues across the continent and playing in front of over 10,000 concert-goers.

The Australian leg of his world tour comes on the back of another European and North American tour where he will play summer festivals including Firefly (US), Osheaga (CAN), Concert at Sea (NED), A Summer’s Tale (GER), Gurtenfest (SWISS), and Bestival (UK).

“Jeremy Loops is a pretty big deal” – Popmatters
“The album is entirely loveable, a record that inspires joy and soul.” – Music Feeds
“A devastatingly addictive chorus and uplifting aura.” – Rhythms

Released via Create Control, ‘Trading Change’ is a stunning debut featuring the singles ‘Down South’, ‘Running Away’ and ‘Sinner’, combining Loops’ African heritage with roots, rock, pop, reggae, Americana and hip hop into a multi-cultural celebration embracing a globes-worth of influences. The result is reminiscent of Jake Bugg, George Ezra, John Butler and The Beautiful Girls. Fellow Capetown local and guest MC on many tracks Motheo Moleko brings a new dimension to the record, creating a link between the folk and urban scenes to create an album that truly represents 2016.

Don’t miss Jeremy Loops as he plays this exclusive run of club shows in an intimate setting you’re unlikely to see again. Tickets are on sale from 10am Friday June 17.

For over a decade, The Cat Empire have been known far and wide as one of the worlds greatest party bands. Their colourful, genre-bending music, shipped across the globe in travellers backpacks, seems at home almost anywhere. Difficult to describe and impossible to categorise, The Cat Empire’s reputation is built upon a chaotic and fiercely uplifting live show that, in 2015, over half a million people bought tickets to see. The band have announced yet another global tour for 2016 in support of the release of their album Rising With The Sun. Front man Felix Riebl explains the new album as “an explosive world, filled with fireworks, exotic flavours and deep rhythm”. The Cat Empire writes songs that make people dance, and music that makes you feel like you have just been swept up in a big, colourful, cacophonous parade. Don’t let the parade pass you buy – grab your tiks to the Rising With The Sun Tour.
