LEVELLERS ANNOUNCE DATES IN AUSTRALIA IN OCT 2016

PERFORMING Levelling The Land LIVE

Levelling The Land features the hit singles One Way, 15 Years and Far From Home plus The Game, Liberty Song, Sell Out, Another Man’s Cause, Riverflow and Boatman.

The era-defining album will be performed in its entirety, followed by an extended encore of live favourites from the Levellers extensive back catalogue.

Levellers have been called a lot conflicting of things over their 27-year history. However, the closest thing to a consensus surrounding the seminal British folk-punk band is that their platinum-selling 1991 album Levelling The Land is an absolute classic. In one fell swoop it propelled a group of disenfranchised misfits from playing pubs in Brighton to headlining Glastonbury Festival, and in the process becoming ‘The most popular band in Britain’ (NME).

During the summer of 1991 Levelling The Land redefined the UK’s musical landscape. Counter-culture became culture, the disenfranchised found a voice, and not a single pub, club, campfire or festival anywhere in Europe failed to reverberate with the refrains of this iconic album. Levellers provided the soundtrack for a society fed up with the twin evils of Thatcherite politics, and the post-80’s, pre-grunge musical wasteland.

Then as now, Levellers may have been hated, but they were also adored. More importantly, this album caused a reaction in everyone who heard it. Musically and lyrically it absolutely forbade ambivalence. It is exactly this quality which explains that why, 2 decades later, when all but the era’s very best music has faded from memory, each and every track has stood the test of time.

OCEAN COLOUR SCENE – The Moseley Shoals Tour Australia 2016

Ocean Colour Scene are heading to our shores for their first ever Australian tour in the 25 year history of the band.

The Ocean Colour Scene story is already the stuff of legend; a rip-roaring rock’n’folk odyssey set to a backdrop of pop culture at its very best.

In their 25 year existence Ocean Colour Scene have notched up many memorable moments commencing with 1996’s smash hit The Riverboat Song and in the decades that followed releasing ten albums, including the top-selling, Moseley Shoals – ‘96, Marchin’ Already – ‘97 and One From The Modern – ’99.

From their days as Breton-shirt wearing disciples of The Stone Roses to transforming into million-selling Britpop stars (Marchin’ Already bumped Oasis’ What’s the Story from the top spot in 1997) and also becoming long-term touring allies with Paul Weller, their story is inseparable from the greats of modern British rock.

February 2016 will see Ocean Colour Scene performing The Moseley Shoals Tour where they will perform the album from start to finish, along with their other greatest hits.

In 2015 UK indie-rock stalwarts The Charlatans released their twelfth album MODERN NATURE on BMG Chrysalis and under exclusive licenses through Cooking Vinyl in Australia.

Following up from the release we are excited to announce that THE CHARLATANS – Tim Burgess, Mark Collins, Martin Blunt and Tony Rogers will be touring in Australia in March 2016.

The band went into their studio Big Mushroom in January 2014 and as Tim recalls “We were aching for the summer when we wrote it. It was freezing and we were trying to write songs that made us happy. “

The result is Modern Nature. Featuring eleven new tracks, the album was produced by The Charlatans and Jim Spencer and mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Portishead). The album features a cacophony of contributors from their three temporary drummers – Pete Salisbury of The Verve, Stephen Morris of New Order and Gabriel Gurnsey of DFA’s avant-disco group Factory Floor, to Kate Bushs’ backing singers Melanie Marshall and Sandra Marvin, strings by Sean O’ Hagan and brass courtesy of Dexys’ Big Jim Paterson. Q have already described the album as “one the finest of their career.”

The tracklisting for the album is as follows; Talking In Tones/So Oh/Come Home Baby/Keep Enough/Tall Grass/Emilie/Let The Good Times Be Never Ending/Need You To Know/Lean In/Trouble Understanding/Lot To Say

The live shows in March will be The Charlatans’ first Australian tour since 2010.

The Stranglers

Seminal stars of the 70s/80s Brit-punk movement THE STRANGLERS are making their way to Australia in 2016, celebrating over forty years raising hell with hits like Golden Brown, Always the Sun and Skin Deep.

Winding around Australia to all mainland capitals, The Stranglers will play hits and much loved tracks from their extensive back catalogue, from 1977’s acclaimed debut ‘ Rattus Norvegicus through to 2012’s return to form ‘Giants’.

Forming in 1974 in small-town England, The Stranglers are now revered as one of the most exciting, credible and influential bands to have emerged from the British new wave scene. They are as essential today as at any time in their lengthy career. The band revelled in their harnessing of absurdity, making a habit of wrong-footing both supporters and haters with stunts, antics and music that made their radio success even more incredible.

The tour graces some of Australia’s best stages including The Metro (Sydney), The Corner (Melbourne) and The Tivoli (Brisbane), giving fans the opportunity to get up close and personal with one of the world’s most influential music acts.

Memory Lane

MEMORY LANE

SUNDAY OCTOBER 18, 2015

ALL AGES – 12.00 Noon – 7PM

SOME MEMORIES WILL NEVER FADE

Port Macquarie’s MEMORY LANE Festival has dropped an impressive musical lineup featuring San Cisco, Stonefield, Patrick James and Zefereli, together with a handful of amazing local acts including Bear in a Man Suit, Plebeian Groove andWithernecks.

Promoter and Director of MJR Presents, Scott Mesiti says “I’ve had my eye on this laneway for about 5 years, I just think it’s a cool space and really think the towns youth could do with their own event. Every time we put a venue show on we get asked by under 18’s if they can come so we know there are kids out there that really want to see live music. Unfortunately they can’t attend those gigs due to licensing laws so we thought we’d throw a Melbourne style laneway party with some great indie acts.”

Headliners San Cisco released their debut self-titled album to international acclaim in 2012. This year has seen the band playing a bunch of festivals and sold out tours following the release of their sophomore studio album in the form of the eclectic offering ‘Gracetown’. The new record showcases different sounds, including disco and funk vibes, against the backdrop of a worldlier undertone from the band. The highly anticipated sequel to their critically-acclaimed self-titled debut is set to please MEMORY LANE audiences as they perform their anthemic, quirky indie pop tunes.

Joining San Cisco high on the bill is former Triple J Unearthed High winners, Stonefield who take to the MEMORY LANE stage after winning ‘Rock Work of the Year’ at this year’s 2015 APRA Awards for their highly praised debut album. The all girl group are currently producing their second studio album with Spiderbait’s Kram and recently released a darker moodier track ‘Golden Dream’ which is the first taste from the collaboration.

MEMORY LANE will also feature live performances from Patrick James and Zefereli and local acts Bear in a Man Suit, Plebeian Groove and Withernecks.

MEMORY LANE will be held on Sunday October 18th from noon until 7 pm and promises to get audiences grooving in the laneway behind Port Central in celebration of music, food and more.

Aimed at providing Port Macquarie’s youth with a recreational stress release valve in the lead up to exams and end of year pressure and promises to grace their eardrums with a deliciously exciting mix of musical talents.

With the announcement today of some of Australia’s most hectic indie rock bands, provides significant opportunities for local acts to play with calibre bands, bringing together musicians, music lovers, creatives and party people in search of a good time.

MJR Presents have joined forces with Port Macquarie Hastings Council, headspace and Mid North Coast Lifesaving to bring you the all ages drug and alcohol free event transforming the Port Central laneway into a vibrant and engaging youth precinct. The laneway will be filled with young people entertaining and being entertained in a place they can call their own.

Tickets available soon from oztix.com.au and will be strictly limited, so pre-purchase will be essential.

Initially formed as a hobby project in mid 2012 by 22 year old frontman David Leaupepe, it wasn’t long before fans and critics alike quickly recognised Gang Of Youths for reaching enviable milestones that few bands would expect from their year of infancy.

Comprised of long-time friends David Leaupepe, Joji Malani, Jung Kim and Max Dunn, the subsequent 2013 release of the critically acclaimed Evangelists, a track produced by Jack Moffit of The Preatures, saw Gang Of Youths receive substantial online support, rousing the interest of illustrious bloggers and critics alike – culminating in the band being featured in both NME magazine as well as Indie Shuffle before quickly gaining high rotation on Australian national tastemaker powerhouse triple j.

With an insurmountable desired end goal of euphonic perfection, the band approached Kevin McMahon of Marcata Recording to produce their debut. Accomplished and respected in his own right, McMahon gained the attention of the band following his production of an array of renowned records, including the entire Titus Andronicus discography, through to Real Estate’s latest, Frightened Rabbit and Swan’s epic The Seer.

The later part of 2013 saw the band touring the UK with Manchester Orchestra before returning to Australia to play sold out shows across the east coast, whilst simultaneously putting the final touches on their debut album, The Positions, mixed by internationally renowned Peter Katis (The National, Local Natives, Frightened Rabbit).

During the Australian summer the band went on to support both New York heavyweights Vampire Weekend and Scottish rockers Frightened Rabbit, following which Gang Of Youths were nominated for ‘Next Big Thing’ at the FBI Radio SMAC awards and were featured as ‘One to Watch in 2014’ for Spotify Australia and New Zealand.

Now, in 2015 after blowing away triple j audiences with their powerful ‘Like A version’ rendition of LCD Soundsystem’s ‘All My Friends’ and following an 18 month creative tour-de- force which saw the band reintroduce themselves to the world with singles ‘Poison Drum’ & ‘Radioface’, Gang Of Youths release their critically acclaimed debut album The Positions by storming the Australian ARIA charts with a #5 debut.

Described by Indie Shuffle as an album that “will no doubt see Gang Of Youths move from strength to strength over the coming months” and as an “an immersive journey, that will tear you apart as quickly as it will piece you back together.” by RIP IT UP, Gang Of Youths continue to impress critics and fans alike.

With a sold out national tour, top 5 debut on the ARIA charts, triple j feature album, FBi album of the week and glowing reviews from respected publications such as Rolling Stone, RIP IT UP, Tone Deaf, Neon Gold, The Music, FasterLouder & The Guardian (among numerous others), it looks to be that 2015 for Gang Of Youths will be one of biggest years experienced by an Australian artist in recent memory.

Xavier Rudd

Following straight on from their appearance at Splendour In The Grass this July, Xavier Rudd & The United Nations will tour Australia-wide throughout August, September and October to celebrate the release of Flag – the second single from their acclaimed debut album, Nanna.

Enthralling his devoted fans, Xavier Rudd kicked off 2015 by unveiling his long-awaited dream project; a full-blown dub record, backed by a eight-piece international all-star band. Supporting lead single Come People, Xavier Rudd & The United Nations embarked on a sold-out national tour in March that took them to packed theatres in every capital city, and ended with a triumphant homecoming in front of a capacity crowd at Byron Bay Bluesfest.

As the year has progressed, Xavier Rudd & The United Nations have become a global force. Nanna has received rave reviews, and The United Nations are consistently proving themselves to be one of the best live bands in the world. Spending April and May in North America, the band have been met with even more sold-out shows abroad, with New York, Toronto and Montreal all hitting capacity. Across the Atlantic, Xavier Rudd & The United Nations will spend June and July on a European tour, performing for fans in 16 cities across seven countries, before heading back to Australia for the Flag Tour. An incredible itinerary.

With 35 dates across all states (including performances at the Darwin Festival and Caloundra Music Festival) the Flag Tour is not just regional Australia’s first up-close introduction to Xavier Rudd & The United Nations, but also the largest regional tour Xavier has undertaken since his 2012 gold-selling masterpiece, Spirit Bird. For his first full band, and the most dynamic album of his career, it’s not surprising that Xavier Rudd wants to take The United Nations to every town in Australia.

“In a time when Australia is digging deep, marching together and standing strong for our threatened communities in the Northwest and simply the long awaited need for positive change for reconciliation in our country, I feel the spirit of this band is very important. This album, this tour, this family, The United Nations is an example energetically & spiritually of where we need to be as a nation. We will be touring regional places in Australia; some we’ve never been to, some we haven’t been for a long time, in order to deliver this message and celebrate the energy of one people with our fellow Australians. Its time to Boogie!”- Xavier Rudd

Described by Rolling Stone as a “beautiful celebration of a global sound”, Nanna is an amazingly uplifting listen. Mixed by the legendary Errol Brown, Flag is the perfect representation of this sound, and indeed the spirit within Xavier Rudd & The United Nations: it is a passionate call to unite, wrapped in pure Tuff Gong authenticity. The perfect song to take to the people.

UB40 Austalian Tour Dates

The UK’s most successful reggae band, UB40, will land in Australia this November for a national tour, including a bunch of regional dates seeing the band play from the city skylines of Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne, all the way through to the beach side havens of Coffs Harbour, Newcastle, Cairns and The Gold Coast.

Naming themselves after the unemployment benefit form, UB40 formed in 1978, releasing their debut album ‘Signing Off’ in August 1980 – considered by many to be one of the greatest reggae albums ever released by a British band. It was the start of a career that has since seen the band have over forty UK Top 40 hit singles and achieve sales of over 100 million records, making UB40 one of the most successful British groups of all-time. The band’s latest Top 30 album ‘Getting Over The Storm’ was awarded BBC Radio 2’s ‘Album Of The Week’ accolade and received 5-star reviews from the UK’s music press on its release in September 2013.

With nearly four decades of success that has spanned over forty hit singles, international stadium tours, festival headline slots and the dramatic departure of long time lead singer Ali Campbell back in 2008. The the remaining founding members, and principle songwriters, joined by new lead vocalist Duncan Campbell, have moved forward flourishing as they go, and keeping the UB40 legacy alive and well.
UB40 are Robin Campbell (co-lead vocals and guitar), Duncan Campbell (lead vocals) Earl Falconer (bass, vocal), Brian Travers (sax and keyboards), Jimmy Brown (drums), Norman Hassan (percussion, vocals).

The band also feature, Martin Meredith (sax) and Lawrence Parry (trumpet), who have both been in UB40’s touring line-up for over twenty years, and Tony Mullins (keyboards).
