MJR BY ARRANGEMENT WITH UTA PRESENTS

ADAM ANT

FOLLOWING SOLD OUT NORTH AMERICAN AND UK TOURS, POP ICON ADAM ANT CELEBRATES THE 35TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS LANDMARK “KINGS OF THE WILD FRONTIER” ALBUM WITH A NEWLY-REMASTERED ALBUM REISSUE AND AUSTRALIAN AND NEW ZEALAND TOUR.

Following his recent sold out North American and UK tours, pop icon Adam Ant is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the release of his landmark “Kings of the Wild Frontier” album with a newly-remastered reissue (Sony Legacy) and Australian tour.  Adam will play the classic album in its entirety and in sequence.  For ticket information, visit www.mjrpresents.com

“I’m really looking forward to performing the ‘Kings of the Wild Frontier’ album live and in sequence plus my other favorite songs from the repertoire, in Australia,” Adam said.

“Kings of the Wild Frontier” introduced the Burundi Beat style of thundering, infectious, Central African drumming to a pop-music audience.  Adam captured the live sound by incorporating two drummers into his band, a musical signature that remains to this day. In addition to remastering the classic album, Adam personally designed the deluxe box set that includes items from his extensive personal archive and a bonus DVD of the out-of-print “Ants In Japan” concert video.

The platinum album, originally released in 1980, crowned the UK Album Chart and spent more time in the top position than any other album at the time.  The album went on to achieve worldwide recognition and produced massive chart-topping singles including the classic “Antmusic”, the breakthrough tribal onslaught of “Dog Eat Dog” and the epic title track.

In Australia, the “Antmusic” single spent five weeks at #1 on the charts.

Crystal Castles

WITH SPECIAL GUESTS CROOKED COLOURS

As their Australia/NZ tour dates get closer, electro-punk extraordinaires Crystal Castles are excited to announce that Crooked Colours will be joining them in May for their exclusive short run of shows.

After a significant 18 month hiatus, live electronic trio Crooked Colours have just released their first single ‘Flow’ from their long awaited LP, due winter 2017. After break-out hit singles ‘Come Down’ ‘Capricious’ & ‘Another Way’ earning them Hype Machine no. 1s and over 6 million streams, the band have become a mainstay on the tour and festival circuit for the past few years. Staying true to the style of their previous releases by creating music that has one foot in the indie world and one foot in a darker electronic realm, Crooked Colours are sure to provide plenty of pre-show party vibes before Crystal Castles’ much-anticipated appearances.

The ground breaking experimental act, famed for their raucous live shows, will be giving Aussie fans a chance to see their new material live for the first time, as well as playing all the well-loved tracks from their self-tittles albums I, II, and III. The Australian tour will be the first time the band have travelled to our shores since 2013, and comes hot off the heels of announcements that the duo has also been confirmed for two of the biggest festivals on the planet – Coachella and Bonnaroo.

Crystal Castles changed the face of electronic music and club culture when they burst onto the scene in 2008 with their mind-blowing debut self-titled album. Drawing critical acclaim, word spread of their explosive, unforgettable, and visceral live performances, propelling them to the forefront of EDM communities around the world. Headlining shows and major festivals all over the globe, the band went onto forge a reputation as one of the most compelling and energetic live acts in music.

Crystal Castles’ next two albums – Crystal Castles II and (III) – saw them continue to push the envelope and solidify their place in the upper echelons of experimental electronica. Now with a new album, 2016’s Amnesty (I), to their name, Crystal Castles is writing a new chapter in their already remarkable story. Expect nothing but an explosion of exhilarating energy, with all the favourite crowd-pleasing tunes as well as the band’s freshest material when Crystal Castles play Brisbane, Sydney,  and Melbourne.

“Crystal Castles became infamous for their anarchic, and raucous, live shows” – The Music

“one of the most vital and original acts of the early millennium” – CLASH Magazine

“how many acts have found ways of smuggling goth, rave, synthesized pop, electro and a festival-ready live act into rock crowds?”  – Pitchfork

Expect nothing but an explosion of exhilarating energy, with all the favourite crowd-pleasing tunes as well as the band’s freshest material when Crystal Castles play Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth

* SECOND MELBOURNE SHOW ANNOUNCED – TUESDAY 23rd MAY *

It seems Australia and New Zealand can’t get enough of Hevy Devy. Melbourne’s 170 Russell Show on 24th May has completely SOLD OUT and a second show at the same venue has now been announced for Tuesday the 23rd May.

Tickets for the additional show are now on sale

Devin Townsend Project is returning to Australia and New Zealand in 2017 and today, Aussie prog/post-rock/instrumental sensations sleepmakeswaves are announcing that they will accompany HevyDevy on the entire May 2017 Australian/New Zealand tour.

Since recording and releasing their most epic record to date, ‘Love of Cartography’, they’ve been back to the UK and Europe twice, China, South East Asia, New Zealand, North America, and looped around Australia a bunch of times and shared stages with some incredible bands – Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, The Contortionist, Opeth, Monuments, Skyharbor and of course a very special tour with the reunited COG.

Album ‘Love Of Cartography’ signaled their continued desire to map new creative directions. Recorded with Nick DiDia at Studios 301, the album’s singles ‘Something Like Avalanches’ & ‘Great Northern’ received airplay on triple j and across Australian & international community & college radio. ‘Love of Cartography’ was also nominated for an ARIA Award, J Award, AIR Award and 3 AU Review Awards. Their Sydney iconic Metro Theatre show was a memorable homecoming for the band and was recorded for posterity by triple j for Live at the Wireless.

Devin Townsend Project is obviously the brainchild of frontman Devin Townsend – who released new album TRANSCENDENCE in September 2016. To celebrate the success of the album, they are returning to Australia and New Zealand in May 2017, presented by MJR Presents. The album was the first ARIA charting album for Devin Townsend Project, coming in at #10 in its first week in the charts – all the more reason to celebrate!

Previously here in 2015 on a string of sold-out shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne – this time Perth and Auckland (NZ) are getting some HevyDevy love. The guitar virtuoso is one of the most celebrated singer/songwriter/guitarists in heavy music and Devin Townsend Projects’ live show never fails to satisfy and amaze.

Over the course of Devin Townsend’s storied career, a single constant has persevered: change. As far back as Steve Vai’s Sex & Religion, which Townsend fronted, to 2001’s landmark full-length Terria to the multi-instrumentalist’s country rock outfit Casualties of Cool to his stunning new album Transcendence, the Canadian isn’t too interested in keeping an even musical keel. To stay the proverbial course is, well, anathema. For certain, he’s far too impatient to write the same Strapping Young Lad song over and over—which is why he folded the band in 2007—and it’s likely there will never be a fourth or fifth Ziltoid album (a third if we’re lucky) because by that point he’ll be in a totally different frame of mind for galactic puppets gone awry.

The man himself is not shy about talking about his process and his varied, long and always-interesting career. This album was a different experience to most in the past and he is excited to bring the show to Australia. He muses about the album process this time around, “The Devin Townsend Project is still essentially a solo project,” he reminds. “One of several, but the difference is that I’ve had a dedicated team of talented folks here that really had great ideas. One of the ways I consciously stepped out of my comfort zone was to the solicit feedback from not only the band, but also to production and engineering. Opinions from people I trust at the management and label, and all with a sense of building a kind of archetype of the DTP sound that would not ostracize people who enjoy the style, but keeping it fresh for me as well. One of the things I did was present my vision—which I’ve always done—and within that framework, I’d massage it with the team. For this record, in those sections, I’d bring it to the band and say, ‘Look guys, here’s what it’s supposed to do. This is how it’s supposed to make me feel. And how the audience is supposed to feel. This is how it interacts with the parts prior and after. That’s why it exists. It’s not complicated because we’re trying to jerk off here. It’s complicated because, in my mind, the emotional component of the section is complicated.”

Recorded at The Armoury Studios in Vancouver, Canada with Townsend and Adam ‘Nolly’ Getgood (Periphery, Animals as Leaders), Transcendence sounds absolutely massive. From the moment ‘Truth’—a re-work from the Infinity album—monstrously blends into the soul-stirring ‘Stormbending’ to the undulating cool of mid-point jam ‘Secret Sciences’ and Ween cover ‘Transdermal Celebration’, Townsend and crew have engineered a modern-day classic. The sheer scale of tracks like ‘Failure’, ‘Higher’, and the majestic title track is at once daunting and inviting. Transcendence pulls the listener in like a movie score. It has the emotional heft of Rosenman’s Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and the mega-riff power of Black-era Metallica.

Townsend’s loyal fans haven’t been waiting very long for Devin to return, only since 2015, but they will get the show of a lifetime with DTP playing the new tracks and tracks from their extensive back catalogue, despite the project only dating back to 2009.

Alter Bridge

MJR Presents ALTER BRIDGE –

AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND TOUR

APRIL 2017

** Due to logistical issues, the Alter Bridge show (originally scheduled for April 1) will now be moved to Friday March 31. Ticket holders that can’t make the event simply need to contact their ticketing provider or info@mjrpresents.com for a refund.

US-based, Kiwi-born hard rockers LIKE A STORM have been announced as the opening act for the legendary ALTER BRIDGE.

LIKE A STORM have fought hard to be heard. The three brothers from New Zealand went to the United States in 2009 knowing no one. After tirelessly touring to promote their debut album, THE END OF THE BEGINNING, they built a diehard and devoted fanbase and soon were opening for the likes of Creed, Alter Bridge and Shinedown in the States.

Orlando, Florida-based rock legends Alter Bridge are today announcing that they will return to Australian shores in April 2017, presented by MJR Presents. Early October 2016 saw Alter Bridge release their latest studio album ‘The Last Hero’ in Australia – to an ARIA #6 album chart debut. With an obviously loyal and ravenous fanbase down under, Alter Bridge are coming down under to celebrate the success.

Alter Bridge’s album Fortress was released in 2013 and it was clear their fans were eagerly waiting for them to return. Now the rock juggernaut comprised of Myles Kennedy on vocals/guitars, Mark Tremonti on guitars/vocals, Brian Marshall on bass and Scott Phillips on drums are returning to Australia on the back of their fifth album, The Last Hero.  The new release is a monster that builds upon the sound that Alter Bridge has become known for with their uncompromised vocal melodies, untouchable dueling guitar work and pounding rhythm section.

Founded in 2004, the quartet immediately went gold in the US with their debut album One Day Remains – and that was just the beginning. Each and every subsequent critically acclaimed release would hit the top album charts in Alter Bridge`s home country, find partnerships with the likes of WWE, MLB and ESPN, and concerts around the globe created a legion of supporters known as the AB Nation! Europe also pledged their allegiance. Alter Bridge`s 2013 effort Fortress gave the band their highest chart entries in Germany, the UK, Austria and Switzerland.

The Last Hero creates musical imagery to showcase a common theme that runs throughout the record: paying tribute to, and touching on the need for heroes and leaders in a complex world. “Show me a leader that won`t compromise – show me a leader so hope never dies.“

Produced by Michael “Elvis” Baskette (Slash, Trivium, Tremonti etc) and mastered by Grammy award winner Ted Jensen, The Last Hero is the diversified and resolute rock album we have all been waiting for: welcome back, Alter Bridge!

Ultimately, Alter Bridge heroically deliver for fans worldwide and rock music at large. “It’s good to be back in the Alter Bridge battle,” Myles leaves off. “Every time we tour, I’m reminded of how great it is to have this passionate and loyal audience. We don’t take it lightly. We consider it an honor that people let us into their lives that way – and we can’t wait to see our loyal fans down under in April.”

Venue Upgrade Notice
Due to overwhelming demand, this show has been moved to a larger capacity venue and will now be taking place at Town Beach Reserve. All other details remain the same (date, lineup and running times), just the venue change to make room for more fans to join in on the fun!

Fresh off the back of their five ARIA 2016 nominations, several laps of the globe including headline festival appearances in Australia, RÜFÜS have today announced an expansive 13 date regional tour of Australia, The Full Bloom Tour. This summer RÜFÜS will be hitting the road, stopping for shows in regional destinations previously missed during their sold out Australian tour in May this year. The Full Bloom Tour marks the one-year anniversary of their #1 gold accredited album Bloom, and will be the last chance for Australian audiences to see the band live before they take time off the touring circuit to start work on their next album.

The tour kicks off at Nightquarter on the Gold Coast on January 20, moving through Sunshine Coast, Wollongong, Newcastle, Wodonga, Geelong, Margaret River, Rottnest Island, Canberra, Port Macquarie, Cairns, Townsville, and wrapping up at Magnums at Airlie Beach on February 26, 2017.

RÜFÜS are thrilled to be heading out on The Full Bloom regional tour, bringing the stellar live show to audiences that may have never witnessed the group live before.  After much of 2016 being spent abroad, playing coveted slots at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Outsidelands and Red Rocks in Colorado, the band are excited to be spending summer back home in Australia, as Lindqvist enthuses, “We’ve been talking about doing a full summer tour of Australia for such a long time, but have never found the right time for it until now.  Spending the Australian summer out on the road with friends playing in all these beautiful places – half of which we’ve never been to… it’s something that’s really exciting.  We’ve got a healthy mix of outdoor shows in this run to try to take advantage of those summer nights.”

The Innerbloom remix pack drops this Friday, featuring the Hype Machine #1 Lane remix, as well as the festival favourite remix by What So Not. Keep an eye out for the upcoming full length video for Innerbloom, directed by long time RÜFÜS collaborator, Katzki, alongside renowned Australian artist Jack Vanzet.

OCEAN COLOUR SCENE – The Moseley Shoals Tour Australia 2016

Ocean Colour Scene are heading to our shores for their first ever Australian tour in the 25 year history of the band.

The Ocean Colour Scene story is already the stuff of legend; a rip-roaring rock’n’folk odyssey set to a backdrop of pop culture at its very best.

In their 25 year existence Ocean Colour Scene have notched up many memorable moments commencing with 1996’s smash hit The Riverboat Song and in the decades that followed releasing ten albums, including the top-selling, Moseley Shoals – ‘96, Marchin’ Already – ‘97 and One From The Modern – ’99.

From their days as Breton-shirt wearing disciples of The Stone Roses to transforming into million-selling Britpop stars (Marchin’ Already bumped Oasis’ What’s the Story from the top spot in 1997) and also becoming long-term touring allies with Paul Weller, their story is inseparable from the greats of modern British rock.

February 2016 will see Ocean Colour Scene performing The Moseley Shoals Tour where they will perform the album from start to finish, along with their other greatest hits.

Memory Lane

MEMORY LANE

SUNDAY OCTOBER 18, 2015

ALL AGES – 12.00 Noon – 7PM

SOME MEMORIES WILL NEVER FADE

Port Macquarie’s MEMORY LANE Festival has dropped an impressive musical lineup featuring San Cisco, Stonefield, Patrick James and Zefereli, together with a handful of amazing local acts including Bear in a Man Suit, Plebeian Groove andWithernecks.

Promoter and Director of MJR Presents, Scott Mesiti says “I’ve had my eye on this laneway for about 5 years, I just think it’s a cool space and really think the towns youth could do with their own event. Every time we put a venue show on we get asked by under 18’s if they can come so we know there are kids out there that really want to see live music. Unfortunately they can’t attend those gigs due to licensing laws so we thought we’d throw a Melbourne style laneway party with some great indie acts.”

Headliners San Cisco released their debut self-titled album to international acclaim in 2012. This year has seen the band playing a bunch of festivals and sold out tours following the release of their sophomore studio album in the form of the eclectic offering ‘Gracetown’. The new record showcases different sounds, including disco and funk vibes, against the backdrop of a worldlier undertone from the band. The highly anticipated sequel to their critically-acclaimed self-titled debut is set to please MEMORY LANE audiences as they perform their anthemic, quirky indie pop tunes.

Joining San Cisco high on the bill is former Triple J Unearthed High winners, Stonefield who take to the MEMORY LANE stage after winning ‘Rock Work of the Year’ at this year’s 2015 APRA Awards for their highly praised debut album. The all girl group are currently producing their second studio album with Spiderbait’s Kram and recently released a darker moodier track ‘Golden Dream’ which is the first taste from the collaboration.

MEMORY LANE will also feature live performances from Patrick James and Zefereli and local acts Bear in a Man Suit, Plebeian Groove and Withernecks.

MEMORY LANE will be held on Sunday October 18th from noon until 7 pm and promises to get audiences grooving in the laneway behind Port Central in celebration of music, food and more.

Aimed at providing Port Macquarie’s youth with a recreational stress release valve in the lead up to exams and end of year pressure and promises to grace their eardrums with a deliciously exciting mix of musical talents.

With the announcement today of some of Australia’s most hectic indie rock bands, provides significant opportunities for local acts to play with calibre bands, bringing together musicians, music lovers, creatives and party people in search of a good time.

MJR Presents have joined forces with Port Macquarie Hastings Council, headspace and Mid North Coast Lifesaving to bring you the all ages drug and alcohol free event transforming the Port Central laneway into a vibrant and engaging youth precinct. The laneway will be filled with young people entertaining and being entertained in a place they can call their own.

Tickets available soon from oztix.com.au and will be strictly limited, so pre-purchase will be essential.

The Rubens

The Rubens head out on one of their biggest tours to date, when they hit the road for the Hoops National Tour to celebrate the 7th August release of their sophomore album of the same title.

Taking on 22 dates throughout September and October, The Rubens will be playing fans tunes from their new album Hoops along with some old favourites from their highly acclaimed, self-titled debut. This will be the first time the band have toured the country since their mammoth ‘Never Be The Same’ tour which saw them sell out three Forum Theatres and two Enmore Theatres.

With their new single ‘Hallelujah’ hitting airwaves across the nation, fans have been given a taste of what they can expect from Hoops.

Fans can be sure that all the new songs will translate seamlessly into the live setting, with front man Sam Margin stating: “We put more of a focus on how the songs would work in a live setting for this album. We wanted to write songs that would be fun for us to play live as well as fun for our audience to listen and move to.”

The band can’t wait to unleash their new tracks live, so don’t miss your chance to see them on this run of shows. Tickets will be available for general public sale 9AM on Wed 17th June.

Melbournian 6-piece alt-rock-soul outfit Saskwatch and Central Coast folk rock duo Winterbourne will be joining the bill for most of the dates.

Hoops follows on from the band’s certified platinum, self-titled debut album, which landed at an impressive #3 on the ARIA Album Chart and saw the band win an APRA Award, Nominated for ‘Best Album’ at the j Awards and clocked up three ARIA Award nominations.

Don’t miss The Rubens when they hit your city on the Hoops national tour.

Gang Of Youths

http://mjrpresents.wpengine.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/GOY-Press-Shot-Low-Rez.jpg

Initially formed as a hobby project in mid 2012 by 22 year old frontman David Leaupepe, it wasn’t long before fans and critics alike quickly recognised Gang Of Youths for reaching enviable milestones that few bands would expect from their year of infancy.

Comprised of long-time friends David Leaupepe, Joji Malani, Jung Kim and Max Dunn, the subsequent 2013 release of the critically acclaimed Evangelists, a track produced by Jack Moffit of The Preatures, saw Gang Of Youths receive substantial online support, rousing the interest of illustrious bloggers and critics alike – culminating in the band being featured in both NME magazine as well as Indie Shuffle before quickly gaining high rotation on Australian national tastemaker powerhouse triple j.

With an insurmountable desired end goal of euphonic perfection, the band approached Kevin McMahon of Marcata Recording to produce their debut. Accomplished and respected in his own right, McMahon gained the attention of the band following his production of an array of renowned records, including the entire Titus Andronicus discography, through to Real Estate’s latest, Frightened Rabbit and Swan’s epic The Seer.

The later part of 2013 saw the band touring the UK with Manchester Orchestra before returning to Australia to play sold out shows across the east coast, whilst simultaneously putting the final touches on their debut album, The Positions, mixed by internationally renowned Peter Katis (The National, Local Natives, Frightened Rabbit).

During the Australian summer the band went on to support both New York heavyweights Vampire Weekend and Scottish rockers Frightened Rabbit, following which Gang Of Youths were nominated for ‘Next Big Thing’ at the FBI Radio SMAC awards and were featured as ‘One to Watch in 2014’ for Spotify Australia and New Zealand.

Now, in 2015 after blowing away triple j audiences with their powerful ‘Like A version’ rendition of LCD Soundsystem’s ‘All My Friends’ and following an 18 month creative tour-de- force which saw the band reintroduce themselves to the world with singles ‘Poison Drum’ & ‘Radioface’, Gang Of Youths release their critically acclaimed debut album The Positions by storming the Australian ARIA charts with a #5 debut.

Described by Indie Shuffle as an album that “will no doubt see Gang Of Youths move from strength to strength over the coming months” and as an “an immersive journey, that will tear you apart as quickly as it will piece you back together.” by RIP IT UP, Gang Of Youths continue to impress critics and fans alike.

With a sold out national tour, top 5 debut on the ARIA charts, triple j feature album, FBi album of the week and glowing reviews from respected publications such as Rolling Stone, RIP IT UP, Tone Deaf, Neon Gold, The Music, FasterLouder & The Guardian (among numerous others), it looks to be that 2015 for Gang Of Youths will be one of biggest years experienced by an Australian artist in recent memory.

“Astonishing LP, a record so emotionally bruised and honest –
ROLLING STONE 41⁄2
“The Positions is magic to the ears and undoubtedly will rank as one of the years finest releases – Australian or otherwise” –
THE AU REVIEW 9/10
“Remarkable for a band so early in their career” –
FASTERLOUDER
“The positions confirms the band as one of Australia’s most exciting & talented acts” –
