MJR Presents is proud to announce that today, legendary DJ and iconic voice of BBC Radio 1 Pete Tong has announced two arena-sized shows for his upcoming Australian tour, with one-off performances at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena and Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl in November this year.
Following the release of the UK number one album ‘Classic House’ as well as a run of sold out shows in the UK, Pete Tong, along with conductor Jules Buckley and a 65-piece Orchestra will hit Australia for the first time this year, armed with their brand new show ‘Pete Tong presents Ibiza Classics performed by The Heritage Orchestra conducted by Jules Buckley’.
Blending and re-working iconic anthems from the past 20 years of house and dance music with a full scale orchestra, ‘Pete Tong presents Ibiza Classics performed by The Heritage Orchestra conducted by Jules Buckley’ is yet another bold, brilliant move from one of the most influential figures in dance music. With modern, live reworking’s of classic club anthems from Daft Punk, Fatboy Slim, Eric Prydz, Robert Miles and more, as well as a hand selected list of guests, Tong’s latest foray into arena shows promises to be a dance party like no other.
The concept for the new show, which came into fruition in 2015 with the launch of BBC Radio 1’s Ibiza Prom at the Royal Albert Hall, is a completely reworked performance for 2017. One part large-scale club show and one part stage performance, ‘Pete Tong presents Ibiza Classics performed by The Heritage Orchestra conducted by Jules Buckley’ is a fresh and welcome change for fans of both classic house and modern dance music.
With its infectious, energetic brand of club music reworked by artistic director Chris Wheeler and The Heritage Orchestra, and the acclaimed conductor Jules Buckley at the helm, Pete Tong’s most recent show has already managed to captured the hearts of millions, with sold out shows around the UK, including the legendary The O2 London.
From London’s pirate station Radio Invicta to the voice of Radio 1’s prestigious dance programming, Pete Tong has held a commanding presence over the industry for more than two decades. His unique position has earned him a reputation as the global ambassador of dance music. With an unparalleled ear for new talent, Tong has become the leading tastemaker of the electronic generation. While he’s known publicly as Pete Tong the DJ, behind the scenes, he’s an industry icon.
The Heritage Orchestra is the orchestra that rocks out arenas, messes with other people’s music, and keeps orchestral tradition in the cellar. Since 2004 this renegade ensemble has collaborated with Aphex Twin, Tim Minchin, The National, Ben Folds, Anna Calvi, and regularly performs on the world’s most renowned stages from the Sydney Opera House to the Royal Albert Hall. They are unique in their use of sound, visual, and electronics, and they don’t play classical music; an approach that has defined them one of the most progressive and vibrant large ensembles around.
Chris Wheeler produces cutting-edge orchestral shows around the world working with artists such as Björk, Giorgio Moroder, Squarepusher, and Goldie. Chris’s understanding of modern production values incorporating new technology, visual art, sound design, and classical performance, fuels his fresh stance on orchestral performance.
Jules Buckley has made a name for himself as one of Europe’s most in-demand conductors of hip contemporary orchestral projects. Currently the Chief Conductor of Holland’s renowned Metropole Orkest and the Musical Director of the UK’s Heritage Orchestra, his daring approach to crossing and linking musical genres has brought him widespread acclaim. Buckley’s recent highlights include acclaimed collaborations with Gregory Porter, Tori Amos, Laura Mvula, Goldie, Markus Stockhausen, Michael Kiwanuka and UK house music duo Basement Jaxx and two Latin Grammy nominations.

Sia announces talent-packed line-up for her Mt Smart Stadium show
Charli XCX, MØ and Theia
+ special guest Maddie Ziegler
She needs no introduction – and nor do the acts that Sia has revealed she will be sharing the stage with when she plays her first-ever New Zealand concert.
In her only live dates for 2017, Sia is bringing her NOSTALGIC FOR THE PRESENT TOUR to Australia and New Zealand this December – playing Mount Smart Stadium in Auckland on Tuesday, December 5.
Today, the global superstar announced that at her Auckland show, she will be supported by an epic, all-female line-up made up of some of the most exciting names in pop – Charli XCX, MØ and New Zealand’s very own rising star, Theia.
Special guest dancer and actress Maddie Ziegler, who has appeared in five of Sia’s music videos, including ‘Chandelier’ and ‘Elastic Heart’ – will also join the impressive line-up.
A multi-platinum artist, songwriter and international icon, Sia is undoubtedly one of the most influential and prolific artists in the world. She has collaborated with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Beyonce; and on her latest single ‘Dusk Till Dawn’, with ZAYN. She’s also penned songs for everyone from Rihanna and Kylie Minogue, to Katy Perry and Camila Cabello.
Although far too many to list, Sia’s hits include: ‘Chandelier’, ‘The Greatest’ (with Kendrick Lamar), ‘Titanium’ (with David Guetta), ‘Diamonds’ (with Rihanna) and ‘Wild Ones’ (With Flo Rida).
Charli XCX is an award-winning talent who has earned critical acclaim both as a singer and as a songwriter, carving out a formidable reputation on the global pop circuit. She got her big break in 2013 with the release of her major label debut album TRUE ROMANCE. In July this year she premiered her single called ‘Boys’, along with a self-directed music video featuring an ensemble cast of male celebrities. It peaked at #2 on the Top 25 Youtube list receiving almost two millions views in under 24 hours. She joins the bill, having just played Lollapalooza.
Hailing from Denmark, MØ released her debut album NO MYTHOLOGIES TO FOLLOW in 2014 – a unique blend of bedroom beats, soul-punk-electro-R&B and pop harmonies – to rave reviews. It featured the hit songs ‘Pilgrims’ and ‘Waste of Time’. She went onto to play sold-out shows around the world and also featured on Major Lazer and DJ Snake’s smash song, ‘Lean On’ – the most-streamed song ever on Spotify. She’s currently putting the finishing touches to her eagerly-anticipated second album.
Theia burst onto the scene in 2016 with her debut single ‘Roam’ which shot up Spotify charts around the world and received widespread Top 40 radio play, not only in her home country of New Zealand but across South East Asia. In 2017, she released and toured her debut self-titled EP THEIA to critical acclaim, containing the hit songs ‘Treat You’ and ‘Champagne Supernova’. Nominated as ‘Breakthrough Artist Of The Year’ at the George FM Awards, the Christchurch-born singer has just performed at the prestigious Music Matters Festival in Singapore.
Don’t miss your chance to see Sia live in New Zealand this December, alongside Charli XCX, MØ, Theia and special guest Maddie Ziegler – thanks to MJR Presents.

2 Tone legends The Selecter and The Beat are teaming up to give fans a rare treat, hitting the road together for a number of dates in 2017 and have announced 7 co-headline shows at the beginning of 2018 in Australia and New Zealand.
Life-long friends, they are two of the main bands to come out of 2 Tone – a crucial musical and cultural movement of the late 70s combining ska and punk which is still as relevant today as it was over 30 years ago. Renowned for their energetic live shows, longevity has not diminished either band’s ability to put in a performance and get everyone in a room, or field, dancing. Don’t miss arguably two of the best live bands around playing full sets of their many hits, and more each night. Their recent UK tour started with just six shows before sell out after sell out saw the tour expand to nearly 40 shows including a night at London’s iconic Roundhouse.
The Selecter is led by their iconic frontwoman Pauline Black, alongside an incredible talented band of musicians, and co-fronted by original member Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson. The anarchic passion that fuelled Selecter gigs during the 2 Tone era is still there, except the pair (Pauline & Gaps) are more driven than ever. Their confidence is sky-high and they’re also writing the best songs of their career, which is saying something given the enduring popularity of hits like Three Minute Hero, Missing Words and On My Radio. Their latest album, Subculture, was mixed by UK dub-master Prince Fatty and released to critical acclaim in June 2015.
The Beat fronted by Ranking Roger released their spectacular fourth album Bounce (the first in over 30 years) in September 2016. The album shows off every gleaming aspect of one of the most musically diverse bands to come out of the multiracial, multicultural explosion that remade British pop from 1979 onwards. Joining Roger in the revitalised band is his son Ranking Junior AKA Matthew Murphy a powerhouse MC who brings to the band an update on the toasting that made Ranking Roger such a pivotal part of the original Beat. The same energy that drove the hit singles of the 80s; Mirror In The Bathroom, Stand Down Margaret and Too Nice To Talk To – is here again on the new album.

One of the UKs most important musical exports, The Stranglers announce their return to Australia and New Zealand in 2018 with their biggest tour in 30 years, ‘The Classic Collection’.
Taking twenty of their most popular tracks from their revered album classics, chart successes and fan favourites from across their 40-year history, The Stranglers prove their longevity and impact with tracks including Golden Brown, Always the Sun, Peaches, Strange Little Girl, 5 Minutes, No More Heroes and many more gracing the set list of this special event.
Co-inciding with the planned re-release of the entire Stranglers studio album catalogue from the period 1977-82, The Stranglers will enthral audiences with an exciting mix of material, all bearing the distinctive signature style of this most enduring of British bands; driving rhythms, anthemic melodies, quirky time signatures and occasional dark humour, held together by those trademark rumbling bass lines and swirling keyboards.
The Stranglers are riding high on the crest of a resurgent wave of popularity. They continue to out-rock many on the live circuit, including much younger bands, and their large and loyal fan base has swelled in recent years as new converts join the ranks. With record-breaking, sell-out shows including their 2016 Australian tour and festival appearances throughout the UK and the rest of the world, public demand to hear and see the group has never been so high; true testament to their considerable musical talent and the enduring quality of their songs.
The Stranglers continue to prove they are still a powerhouse live act, with fans in for a treat with the Australian return of an even bigger and bolder show from the inventors and ultimate purveyors of Brit-punk.

After visiting Australia for the first time in their quarter-century history in 2016, Britain’s Ocean Colour Scene are returning for another round of shows to satisfy fans who missed out on tickets for their first sell-out run.
The Ocean Colour Scene story is already the stuff of legend; a rip-roaring rock’n’folk odyssey set to a backdrop of pop culture at its very best. One of the leading lights of the 90s britpop wave, coming up through the live scene with contemporaries including Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene remain one of the biggest acts of the time still on the road today.
The band have notched up many memorable moments including 1996’s breakthrough hit ‘The Riverboat Song’, five UK top 10 selling albums, seventeen UK top 40 singles, multiple global tours with the likes of Paul Weller and the distinction of being the band that knocked Oasis’ “What’s the Story Morning Glory” album off its record breaking run at the top of the UK charts.
The band will visit Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Fremantle and New Zealand across their downunder run this November.

ADAM ANT
Following his recent sold out North American and UK tours, pop icon Adam Ant is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the release of his landmark “Kings of the Wild Frontier” album with a newly-remastered reissue (Sony Legacy) and Australian tour. Adam will play the classic album in its entirety and in sequence. For ticket information, visit www.mjrpresents.com
“I’m really looking forward to performing the ‘Kings of the Wild Frontier’ album live and in sequence plus my other favorite songs from the repertoire, in Australia,” Adam said.
“Kings of the Wild Frontier” introduced the Burundi Beat style of thundering, infectious, Central African drumming to a pop-music audience. Adam captured the live sound by incorporating two drummers into his band, a musical signature that remains to this day. In addition to remastering the classic album, Adam personally designed the deluxe box set that includes items from his extensive personal archive and a bonus DVD of the out-of-print “Ants In Japan” concert video.
The platinum album, originally released in 1980, crowned the UK Album Chart and spent more time in the top position than any other album at the time. The album went on to achieve worldwide recognition and produced massive chart-topping singles including the classic “Antmusic”, the breakthrough tribal onslaught of “Dog Eat Dog” and the epic title track.
In Australia, the “Antmusic” single spent five weeks at #1 on the charts.
