Midge Ure

ON SALE TUESDAY 28th MAY 10am – SYDNEY TIME

Scottish New-Wave artist Midge Ure has today announced his Australian return tour, set to bring the sound of 1980, down under in 2020.

Previously in Australia for a quick, limited run of sold-out acoustic shows in 2015, Midge Ure returns to Australian shores in 2020 with a full band, a fuller sound and a brand new tour focusing on iconic hits from acclaimed album ‘Vienna’.

Brought to life by Midge Ure and Band Electronica, this is the very first time in nearly 40 years that the ‘Vienna’ album will be performed in its entirety in Australia. It is also the first time that many of the songs from the debut Visage album will be played live by the man who was one of the  creative forces behind the project.

With shows confirmed for Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth, crowds around the country will finally have a chance at seeing Midge Ure’s back catalogue, which includes ‘Fade To Grey’, ‘Vienna’, ‘Dancing With Tears in My Eyes’ and ‘Yellow Pearl’, which was written with Thin Lizzy’s Phil Lynott.

Australians always embraced musical experimentation and change and certainly took Ultravox and Visage to their hearts” Said Midge Ure. “I remember filming the acceptance speech for the single of the year Brit award for Vienna in the shadow of the Sydney Harbour Bridge during an Ultravox tour. I’m looking forward to coming back to celebrate that innovative and creative period.”

At the end of the 1970s momentous change was afoot in Britain and the world – in society, politics, fashion and culture – and the musical landscape was also about to change forever. The guitar-driven dominance that had propelled rock and punk throughout the decade was about to end, as synthesizers signalled the sound of the future and video transformed the look of the pop charts. The 1980s were about to explode into life and nothing would be the same again.

At the heart of this seismic leap into a futuristic new dawn were two records that set the template for much of what was to follow. Visage’s single ‘Fade To Grey’ from the band’s debut eponymous album and Ultravox’s single ‘Vienna’ from the album of the same name were global hits that shared the same stark ambience, European aesthetic and electronic heart. The albums that birthed those landmark singles expanded that sonic palette even further and brought the art-school alternative into the very centre of the mainstream.

Both records were co-written, recorded and produced by one of the leading characters in British music, Midge Ure, and not only transformed the charts around the globe but his life in the process.

Don’t miss your chance to see Scottish New Wave icon Midge Ure during his 2020 Australian tour.

Arguably one of the most unique and captivating metal bands on earth, Apocalyptica have today announced their anticipated return to Australian shores! Presented by MJR Presents, the four-piece cello outfit are returning to play the biggest rooms they have ever played in Australia.

Having previously sold out solo runs around Australia, and surprised fans on the 2015 Soundwave Festival tour, the Finnish ‘cello metal’ group will return to Australia in September, for two brand new shows at some of the country’s most prestigious halls; the iconic Sydney Opera House, Melbourne’s Hamer Hall and new kid on the block The Fortitude Music Hall.

The Finnish, cello-driven rock opus, who changed the landscape of both heavy and classical music for years to come with the release of their 1996 album “Plays Metallica by Four Cellos” have built a reputation for incredible live shows, which consistently blurs the line between metal, classical, theatre and rock-opera. To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the album, the group re-released it,  remastered with 3 bonus tracks on July 22, 2016. Added to this new version were brand new / never-before- released instrumental recordings of ‘Battery’, ‘Nothing Else Matters’ and ‘Seek &Destroy’.

After playing over 170 ‘Plays Metallica by Four Cellos’ concerts in more than 40 countries,
Apocalyptica went on to release seven critically acclaimed albums, selling over 6 million records worldwide.

Tickets for Apocalyptica’s Australian tour go on sale at 10:00am AEDT Monday 1st April, 2019,

The legendary Sevendust returns to Australia and New Zealand in April 2019 – presented by MJR Presents and 24/7 Metal and Rock station/app The FactionSevendust are coming to celebrate their 2018 Rise Records release All I See Is War – a record that has energised fans all over the world.

The iconic five-piece hard rock/metal outfit will visit Auckland, NZ’s Powerstation Tuesday 23rd April, then head on to Australia, kicking off the AU leg Thursday 25th April at The Tivoli, Brisbane, then on to The Metro in Sydney on Friday 26 April, The Forum in Melbourne on the 27th, The Gov in Adelaide on the 29th and then finish the tour in Perth at Capitol on the 30th April.

Hysteria Mag said that All I See is War is “…heavy, angry yet vulnerable … the reasons why Sevendust continue to resonate with an ever-widening audience“. Guitarist for the band, Clint Lowery, says of their extremely dedicated fanbase – “We take pride in the connection we have – We’ve always been a people’s band. We’re typical guys who just happen to make a career on stage. With this relationship to the fans, we realize how much we need each other, so we push ourselves to deliver. We don’t stop. We keep moving.

Sevendust first forged a familial tie amongst each other in 1994 that translated into one of the most die-hard audiences in the game. To this day, the connection between fans and the GRAMMY® Award-nominated gold-certified hard rock outfit only grows stronger. For their twelfth full-length and first release for Rise Records All I See Is War, the quintet—Lajon Witherspoon [lead vocals], Clint Lowery [lead guitar, backing vocals], John Connolly [rhythm guitar, backing vocals], Vince Hornsby [bass], and Morgan Rose [drums] – did the best thing they could possibly do to combat all of the division in the streets and on social media; they went and made a Sevendust record—just bigger, ballsier, and bolder than before – and they couldn’t be more excited to bring it to Australia and New Zealand.

A trifecta of now-classic gold albums—Sevendust [1997], Home [1999], and Animosity [2001]— ignited their journey. Known as an equally intense and unforgettable live force, they’ve consistently packed houses around the world and decimated stages everywhere from Rock on the Range and Woodstock to OZZfest and Shiprocked! 2015’s Kill The Flaw represented a high watermark. Bowing at #13 on the Billboard Top 200, it scored their highest debut on the respective chart since 2010 and marked their fifth consecutive Top 10 on the Top Rock Albums Chart and third straight Top 3 on the Hard Rock Albums Chart. Most impressively, the lead single “Thank You” garnered a nomination in the category of “Best Metal Performance” at the 2016 GRAMMY® Awards, a career first. All I See Is War represents yet another new beginning and new point of connection for fans.
